Great work KaizersCall. This is what a custom built back yard smoker should look like!
Innovation and a lot of work. I like your idea to build a jig to hold elevation and plan dimensions.
You have some good ideas and you're making them your own.
Way too go! You have mad layout skills.
I...
Welcome swechef. Your build is anything but slow. You'll make your deadline at this rate. And your skills are showing.
Look forward to a speedy completion. You have to, to be ready for your Oktoberfest. Great job!
That's a great price for the 250. I think I got a good deal and paid $150.
Just be careful when you start cutting it. After soaking with soapy water, I filled mine with water to start the cut. Always safety first!
We all look forward to your progress.
Looks like you have a nice project there.
You know that plans inevitably change as you get into it.
Are you going to trailer it?
Keep the pictures coming as you progress along!
Hi Aaron.
Yes they both have the same style ash clean out. I use a hoe or shovel. The one without wheels is an old stainless water tank we had lying around and it is sloped so the ash gate end is a couple of inches lower than the other. No holes for the rain water is necessary.
Those backyard...
Hi Aaron. I have built several of these on a trailer. Here's a photo of mine.
I had it formed out of 10 ga. mild steel at a fab shop. The whole back end is hinged and swings up for a clean out. I just put about 80 to 120 lbs. of mesquite charcoal on the bottom and light it. I don't know how...
Yeah I did. Nice lookin monster smoker you built and it did a fine job on the hog. How long did you cook it? You must have had a lot of people to feed.
Apparently you have skills! fab and smokin, a good combination
I like it. Innovative and curved. I like curved surfaces. They can be more work, but they just have a more pleasing look than flat. Just leave enough clearance for the grit and ash that will accumulate down there and it should move the way you envision it.
I also like the way you did the...
Hey JayJ I like it. That's a big smoker with an agricultural look. Post some pics of the inside. How the smoke travels to the 2 smoke stacks and such. Having an extra large firebox will keep that big bad boy smoking as long as it takes. Congrats
Man you're blazing through your build. Looks good and you can handle that door with some muscle! The double lining inside and out is a good idea and will help to seal against smoke leak. I had to get some toggle clamps to help hold the door tight and they worked great.
Keep the pics coming
Nice... sweeet.... great..... what can I say?
Looks like this build is going pretty fast.
Waiting to see what you come up with the flaming pig. I like tools too but a computer controlled plasma table is the ultimate toy!
You didn't post where you're from. If your near, I could give you some...
Nice build. I'm looking for some 5" or 6" myself. It's hard to find around here. Your new smoker should handle any thing you throw in it! It's nice to be able to work indoors.
Keep the pictures coming.
That's a coincident, because my first Bbq comp was for Relay For Life. April 1 . I have been involved for several years now. Mostly doing photography fund raising at the event. I'm trying to talk our team leader into letting me Bbq next year. There wasn't much food this year and I think we can...
