    ECB and the Minon method

Bill, last weekend I had soaked hickory chunks in aluminum foil with holes in top, I got good smoke and still had some left in the foil.  Towards the end, I had a few chunks left in the soaker pail, so I threw them in the side door,  Even though they were soaked, it didn't take very long for...

    Briquette or Natural Lump Charcoal

I saw somewhere that a good idea for starting anything in a chimney was to use crumpled newspaper and spray it with cooking spray before lighting.  I tried it last weekend and it worked well. Deano

can i use brown sugar in leiu of turnbinado sugar for rub??

I would agree......paprika is the basis for a lot of BBQ/Smoke recipes and should be used.  I have a Sprouts store close to me and they have an extensive amount of spices, one of which is Hungarian Paprika.  I buy it by the pound.

    ECB and the Minon method

The setup of aluminum wrapped smoker chunks and outside legs (firebox resting on stones) worked for me last weekend.

Newbie Smoker With a Mesquite Question

Well, my plan is to use a combination of hickory and mesquite in combination (small amounts of both) during my brisket smoke, so I don't think I will be overpowering with the mesquite.  Thanks for your input.

    ECB and the Minon method

Okay, final preparations are done for this newbie to try a brisket smoke this weekend (2nd project after chicken). Have the Brinkmann ECB and did all the recommended "Jeff Mod's" (see setup below) of legs outside, firebox on pavers, controlled venting holes on lid, real thermometer.  I also set...

Newbie Smoker With a Mesquite Question

Well, I am planning on using lump charcoal in my firebox, so I guess I would be okay. Thanks! Deano

Newbie Smoker With a Mesquite Question

I would think that the green wood would already have the moisture in it and may smoke well and burn off slower.

Newbie Smoker With a Mesquite Question

I live in Arizona with a lot of mesquite trees around.  One especially large one (3-4 ft. diameter trunk) is in my front yard.  I have a tree guy coming in a day or two to do the yearly trim on it (its too big and I'm too old to try trimming it myself).  I am going to have some selective...

    ECB and the Minon method

I could use an adhesive (one came with the rope) to attach the rope, but I think I would rather just poke it down into the space around the lid after setting it back down, since I'm not sure how it would seal after taking it off and on after being glued.  It doesn't take much to just put it on...

    Signature

I have seen the bar saying I am now a premier member.  But any signature block has not appeared.  I'll wait a few days. Thanks!

    Signature

Okay, I just signed up for a new 2 year membership.  Does that give me the option of a signature and if so, how long does it take for the premier membership to take effect?   I just looked at my post heading and see that I am now listed a Premier.  It takes me sometime to catch up.
