Those look good. Now take them a bit farther. Put the nuts (I mix all kinds) and put them in a plastic bag. Add just enough maple syrup to lightly coat theml. Spread them on a cookie sheet, add whatever seasoning you like.....paprika, chili powder, salt, seasoning salt, almost anything...
Since no one else is answering, I will give you a couple of things to consider. Being only eight years old, the inside liner is most likely plastic and the insulation is most likely foam. If so, both would probably have to be replaced. A stainless steel liner would be both a major job...
I cold smoke nuts for a couple of hours, pour them in a ziplock bag with a small amount of home made maple syrup, shake to coat evenly, spread them on a cookie sheet and dust them with salt, chili powder and whatever other spice is handy. Roast them in the oven for two hours at 250...

I have the same gasser that you have. I never bothered to worry about a bit of smoke leaking around the door. It gets less the longer you use it. I keep the top and both bottom vents open all the time and control the heat with a needle valve. I open the valve on the smoker to high and...
Here is another method you can try. I use it on almonds and mixed nuts.
Cold smoke the nuts a couple of hours.
Place in ziplock bag and add a small amount of maple syrup....Just enough to coat the nuts
Spread on cookie sheet
Sprinkle with salt, chili powder, and any other spice you...
