Realistically, if you pay the 10% for not being a member you might as well pay the $40 for the membership.
If anyone wants one bad enough and can't find it I could pick one up and ship it. Does anybody that has one already know the dimensions on the box and how much it weighs in the box?
Saw the new one tonight at the Sam's in Murfreesboro, TN. I thought I was gonna scoop it but I haven't been on here in a few days, been busy moving..
I'm working on excuses to go get the new one. So far I have:
1. I only paid $100 for the 40" I have.
2. I can do twice as much jerky (or...
You have to remember also that not every person with a MES posts here and the people without problems tend to never show up anywhere. I'd bet the % of units with issues is fairly small. If it was that big there would be recalls..
That's known as an ECB (El Cheapo Brinkmann). That was my first electric. It can be fun to keep the temp where you want it but it can produce some nice food. I always used chunks and put them in the bottom between the element bars. I don't remember if the manual says to do it that way or put...
I don't know of anything that will shut it off when it reaches a temp. You can get a thermometer that will give an alarm when it reaches the temp you set, then you turn it off.
You'd have to build anything more complicated.
I wonder it that's on MasterBuilt's radar for future products??
That looks great. I was in Mooresville for a couple days a couple weekends ago. Pretty much only to give my 30 days notice to the landlord and start packing stuff. Moving to TN. I will be in a house though and might actually be able to start a small build of my own. I'll definitely be...
I'm moving to TN in the next few weeks. Specifically Murfreesboro probably. Did some Googling and found a couple butcher shops/meat markets in the area but haven't checked them out yet. I was curious if anyone had any recommendations. I'm looking for non cryo briskets and babyback/spares mostly.
That sounds right. Interesting that they have the old model though.
Makes me wonder if they had some sitting in a warehouse.
Do a search here for both of those model #s and you'll find quite a bit of info. I believe the older one has a 650 Watt element while the newer one has and 800 Watt.
It turned out better than I expected. I figured with the extended cook time it would be dry but it was still pretty moist. And very tender. Not as pretty and no smoke doing it in the MES compared to charcoal but the maple gave it a great flavor.
I think that might have been an issue. When I had it at 220 though I checked it with my Taylor thermometer and it read 217. But when I bumped the temp up to 275 and wasn't seeing any progress I checked again and was only seeing about 210..
I've since moved the flat to the oven and cut up the...
I had to look back and see when I got my MES 30". I was thinking it was around March but it was actually January. I got my 30" at Home Depot and right after I got it people started seeing the 40" at Sams. It was a month or so before they were everywhere.
So historically I would say it could...
I might have to rename this thread something about Monster Mutant Brisket.. At about 19 hrs or so it was still only at 149. I upped the temp to 240 and at 22 hours it was still only 155. I debated foiling it vs separating the point and flat to see if I could speed it up. I decided to...
They've been getting thin since the middle of summer. I have read about a few people still finding them at Sams. I bought a used one for $100 and have seen a couple for around $200.
I was going to tell you to try CraigsList until I saw you're in AK..
