Just an update. I received my Chef's Choice 609 model. It has a small blade, but worked pretty damn well for my bacon (partially frozen). It sliced through 3 pounds without a hiccup. The slices I got were about 7 inches, which is fine for me as this bacon doesnt shrink too much anyway. For the...
Please respond in this thread and let us know how this one works for you. It says its not good for raw meats or cheese? I saw this in my local restaurant store and if the other one I bought doesn't work out I was going to consider this one.
Thanks!
Lou
I just use a twist tie on the cord and rest it on top. No real need for a hanger w/ or w/out the cover. The AMNS has a tough time, but i just used a little masking tape and had the door open just a really small crack. Once I did this I would getting 12 hours straight of smoke using dust...
A lot of the ones I see in a retail market are chef's choice brand. Some get very good reviews. I just purchased one of the cheaper units for $130 just for bacon. Hopefully, it will be good enough to do the job the few times I'm actually going to need it.
Well added two of my three slabs to the smoker today. One is a bit thicker so I'm letting it cure a little more. I'll be honest, during my salt test I would have hoped the bacon took on more of the spices I put on it. Was barely noticeable. Ran into another snag today. The AMNS does NOT fit well...
Selling my model 1 smoker as I want to upgrade to a bigger one. Only been used a couple of times and is in great condition. NO issues with the unit, just want bigger. Pick-up near Harrisburg, PA only or can arrange to drop off.
This comes with the cover and the cold smoking plate. Bought brand...
If there's any case for not getting the model #1 and going bigger, this is it. This morning was the first time I regretted not spending the extra $$ and getting at least the 2. I had cut my 10# pork belly into thirds and they BARELY fit. Also, the AMNS doesn't really fit either. Not sure how...
Good point, I have only used my chip box and some good chunks. However, I just bought one of the 6x8s from Todd with some sawdust that im going to use for my bacon. Ill have to try using just the heating element and the amazen smoker with a constant smoke sometime just to see the difference.
I welcome your invitation! Lol, it definitely is a personal preference, but it probably has more to do with mismanagement than anything. My brother smoked some ribs once that just tasted like pure smoke and nothing else. I know some others have mentioned similar instances on here too. I know...
