    Smoking with a gas grill

Ice, I think he mentioned he has a box, but I agree, leave the lid off and use chips and chunks. The smoke ring is a chemical reaction between the meat, and the burning wood/charcoal. As Scott might drop in and mention, some that use gas or electrics will sometimes add a piece of charcoal to...

    Brinkman vs. Chargriller

Oh, and the Brinkmann actually needs to be modded up quite a bit to get some consistency: Fire Grate Baffle Heat Sheild are the 3 basics, but the firebricks mod also is a good idea. Edit: Noah, show us your mods please

    Brinkman vs. Chargriller

riz, that Brinkmann site is notorious for that retail pricing crap. The BSKD is regularly $189 in places like Menards, so the pricing (CGP is $179) is fairly close Personally, I would go with the BSKD. It is very versatile, because of the shear options and space that a vertical provide. I...

How can I test how hot my smoker gets?

I just went and read the owners manual for your brinkmann to see if I could gather any additional insight. There's 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Pretty useless other than 5 warnings to not let your flavoring wood touch the eliment, and of course, don't pour water on it. I think I...

How can I test how hot my smoker gets?

Would starting with cold water in the pan help any? I am unfamiliar with electric smokers. Does it have settings like Low Medium and High? If not, is it possible to get a timer switch to turn the power off and on in 5 minute (or whatever it takes to maintain stable) intervals? I'm guessing...

How can I test how hot my smoker gets?

Are you sure the probe is accurate Doug? Take a reading in boiling water and see how close to 212* you get. When my probes start to go, they can be as much as 12-20* off before becoming totally unreliable

Low Fat, low sugar, kick AS$ BBQ sauce

Heinz makes a no salt added Ketchup. Gary, check out Healthy Heart Market for low to no sodium foods. I try this and that, then try and find the things I like and look around to buy them locally.
