Well the brisket turned out better than I had thought. There was virtually no smokey taste since I couldn't get any smoke generated but it was tasty just the same. Once the internal temps hit 190 I pulled the brisket, wrapped it in a towel and put it in a cooler for about an hour. My only...
Decided to go with a brisket for my first smoke on my new MES 40. Unfortunately it's been a frustrating experience. I got out of bed at 5:15 to start cooking up the 5.5 lb flat brisket. What I have read about the MES and its inability to create smoke at low temperatures is very true. Outside...
Mighty nice looking brisket...I'm cooking up my first one tomorrow. We don't have Big Red up her in Michigan but I'm guessing it's very similar to Faygo Red Pop. Can't beat it on a hot summer day.
Going to be cooking on my brand new MES 40 this weekend and was thinking about doing pulled beef. Curious as to what cut of beef to use and what type of rubs or marindes. How about cook times? Fired up about using the new smoker!!!

Glock - Were you on back order for your MES 40 through Amazon? I ordered mine for Fathers Day and have been anxiously waiting delivery. I will finally get mine tomorrow too.
Per all the helpful advice I went out and picked up a 25' / 12 gauge cord at lunch this afternoon. I checked out the owners manual on the new MES 40 and they had the following to say about using extension cords:
• Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in...
After a long wait I'm finally getting my MES 40. I've read at least in one post that you need to plug the unit directly into the wall outlet rather than using an extension cord. The post stated that the unit wouldn't heat properly. I'm not an electrician but that doesn't sound right to me...
