Still making progress - although it's slow going. The work left is mostly small parts that all have to be hand cut and/or hand made individually...just takes some time.
I got the cutouts done for the intake dampers. There's one on each side of the cabinet.
I decided to do pinwheel...
Heck, Jim this pit weighs a FRACTION of what that monster of yours weighs!! :emoji_wink::emoji_sunglasses:
I figured your smoker weighed in at over 800 lbs. This one is probably gonna weigh something over 200.

I use those sanding discs too! I still like flap discs for heavy grinding and shaping, but those sanding discs are great for fine work - especially smoothing inside corners!
Thanks Brother!

Wow David that looks terrific! We love a good pizza, topped with the works just like yours! Never tried a SD crust pizza though...may have to give that a try!

Whoa!! Those look absolutely terrific! Nicely done!
I was also gonna ask about that SNS mod with the plate welded to the SNS...but @WaterRat beat me to it. Is that a homemade mod, or something available out there I didn't know about?
Def. points for that cook! :emoji_thumbsup:

Thanks RG!
Those Pferd discs are top of the line for sure - but they're pretty spendy! I'm usually too cheap to spend that much money on consumables. My go-to discs for grinding, cutting and sanding the last couple years has been Benchmark Abrasives. They seem to me to be a good compromise...
Thank you David!
Justin! What's up Buddy! Thank you my friend! Yep - ya know I love some ribeyes! I'm hoping this thing will be able to get screaming hot with the coal basket raised up right under the grate!

That's a beautiful space Charles - I'm envious! I've been wishing I could do something similar on the back of my house. Sounds like you had your challenges getting it finished, but that's an area you'll really enjoy!

Thanks Brother! And if you were channeling the design of the handle to me, thanks for that too lol!
It won't be long til I'll be ready to build the first fire in it! I have a pretty full day of welding left to do - all the door seams, and some outside corner welds on the main cabinet...
End-of-the-week update!
Made more progress the last 2 days. I'm to the stage in a build where most steps go pretty slow. Lots of fabrication of small, hand-made parts that just take time to get right.
I finished framing out the main door.
Then started tacking the skin on the door...
