Turkey at 130 in 2.5 hours - I think I just ruined Easter....

I will also add - I only started smoking last summer, and this is my first Turkey.  Needless to say I am very inexperienced - please be gentle!

Turkey at 130 in 2.5 hours - I think I just ruined Easter....

To add, I had it fluctuating between 250-300 (its 14 lbs).  Now I have it turned down to around 200-220.  Any suggestions on how I can "stretch" the cooking time out would be greatly appreciated....

Turkey at 130 in 2.5 hours - I think I just ruined Easter....

Hi, Just wanted to share a Qview of the turkey thus far.  I have a mixture of Old Style and apple juice/water up it's butt and rubbed with a blend of kosher salt, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, sage, thyme, rosemary, butter.  I also injected a few spots and stuffed some herb butter under...

    Smoking a 14 lb. turkey

Hi, I can get it up to 275 without any problems.  The only issue is that I have to open the door quite a bit unfortunately to replace the wood chunks (the tray is tiny), so it's very hard to maintain the heat. I'd also like to have an earlier dinner if possible - so I might stick with...

Instead of a ham for this upcoming Easter, my parents gave me a 14 lb. turkey that my wife and I are now obligated to cook.  I really want to smoke this, but it would be my first time doing a...

First smoke and trying to avoid a disaster

Thanks all again for the advise.  After reading all the replies, I think I may have put my foot in mouth when I declared myself the Memorial Day party brisket smoking king prior to actually smoking one.  Without taking too much more of everyones time, since everyone has been so helpful - does...

First smoke and trying to avoid a disaster

WOW - thanks guys!  This is awesome information.  A few quick questions if I may... 1.  For the meat thermometer - can I buy a double probe remote one?  I would put one in the middle of the meat, and one resting on a stand on the rack.  This way I'd never have to open to door to check either...

First smoke and trying to avoid a disaster

Hi, I'm new here, and recently purchased a Masterbuilt LP vertical smoker (propane).  After a few beers, I declared to my in-laws and their friends that I'll be smoking a beef brisket for around 16 ppl (the brisket will probably be 10-12 lbs) this weekend.  Does anyone have any "tricks of the...
