Five hours in the smoker,
though the first hour was difficult keeping it to temp.
Last three hours had it dead on 230'c. Got hungry and pulled them out earlier than I should have. Good first smoke. Used the dry mix from the paid for recipes but mustard made it a bit too spicy for what I'd...
Just to let you know when it warmed up, it set fine. Took weeks. Just the cold and wet UK climate.
Made a basket out of old oven trays and stainless steel oven grids.
It worked better than the old Morris minor wheel we used to start with. Still needs more work doing to it.
Why so quiet? The paint didn't set. Too cold I think. I'm going to have to strip the barrel (not hard, the BBQ paint just rubs off so maybe some rubbing alcohol to remove it) but I'm going to wait for it to warm up a little.
As I don't have any experience in smoking, I want to use lumps in my UDS I'm building.
I found that Goulden Hardwoods had a nice range of woods and was willing to put together boxes of mixed woods so you're not stuck on one wood.

Thought I'd separate the original discussion with the UDS build pictures. Gary and I completed most of this build from about 10:30am to 5pm in the afternoon. Paint still drying, it's a bit cold (7'c) and it's got a bit dark over here in the UK.
