    MES MODS and AMNPS: better smoke when MES is OFF

    I bought the amnps 5 1/2" for my MES 40". I could never keep it lit also. I went ahead and bought the cold smoker add on and it smokes so much better, no babysitting. I don't even use my amnsp anymore. A waste of $39 for me.

    Call masterbuilt, might still bein warranty. My control panel would go off and on by itself. I called and they sent me a new control panel no questions asked.

    My MES 40 reads temp higher than my Mavereck ET 733. Example MES reads 275° and my ET733 reads 250°. If I set it for 250 my ET 733 will read around 215.

    Not sure which gen I have. Vent is on top and controls are at the back of the smoker. Wood chip loader is on the right bottom.
