I have a gallon of eggs ready for Xmas eve. with Jalepenos ,onions,garlic cloves and a pinch of habenero flakes.I have been using ground Turmeric for a golden color.I will try the food color for the spotted look.

Thanks for the tip on the fix of the hot spot.Went to Cheapo Depot and for .79 bought a 12 " tile.Placed it on the top of the chip box tight in the corner.I am guessing that is where you are speaking of ??
