    Probably should be avoided if a choice is available. I had a peach tree branch and used a reciricating and a chop saw to make chunks. And, Sodium and Chlorine, both very toxic, are derivitves of table salt.

    Chainsaws use oil to lubricate the chain. Is wood purchased commercially cut with chainsaws? It seems that that wood should be avoided.
