Here's the build pics from my finished (almost!) double barrel smoker. Rain has delayed everything a bit but let me know what you guys think. I don't know how to weld or have access to a welder so the fab is a little rough, plus I inherited the top barrel for free so I needed to seal...
So I cut and fitted my piping on my double barrel build yesterday before the rain set in. I am planning on using gasket rope for the lid seals but am more curious about what's the best option for sealing the pipe to barrel connection? Since the pipe is stationary it shouldn't be a problem...
I assumed there would be some difference in flow between sizes but it had me thinking...
Obviously, the moe flow the better. However, if our ideal temps are only within 50-75* of each other then would reducing the diameter control itself essentially?
I am running two 4" elbows instead of...
Is there a particular reason - other than readily available 6" stove pipe - that 6" is the only(?) diameter used in double barrel builds?
I took a look at some today for my build but they seemed huge! Would decreasing the size to 4" not conduct enough heat?

I took a look at some today for my build but they seemed huge! Would decreasing the size to 5" or even 4" not conduct enough heat?
Correct. That was actually my plan although the drawing didn't really show it too well. What do you think about heat diffusion? I'm not worried about the smoke but not sure is the heat transfer will get me to the temps I want
I've got some barrels and a decent setup idea for a double barrel build. As I've been looking at all the builds I have seen the same diagram with stacked barrels, stope pipe coming up the center bottom from the firebox to the smokebox(barrel) with dual exhaust out the sides. From reading it...
