    Size of wood?

I appreciate all of the detailed responses. I can’t wait to get my Lang 60D in a couple weeks and fireing her up. In the meantime, I’m going to re-split some of the larger pieces this weekend.

    Size of wood?

Most of the splits are 14”-19” long and between 3” to 5” wide. Actually, I think that the 3” would produce a more controlled fire.

    Size of wood?

I’m getting a Lang 60 Deluxe Smoker in a few weeks. It will be my first stick burner. I picked up some Cherry and Hickory today and the wood has been split into different sizes/thicknesses. How big should the wood splits be, or does it matter? Thanks for your help.

    Lang 60 or 84???

Guys, thanks for your comments. I decided on the Lang 60" Deluxe Smoker Cooker and I ordered her this week. The 60” is large enough to handle virtually all of my future cooking needs and isn't so large that I would feel guilty cooking up a couple slabs of spares and a pork butt on the weekend...

    Shirley Fab

Thanks for the referral. I just checked out the 24x42 patio model. Man it’s a nice cooker, but I’m looking for 60” or slightly larger. I’m heading to a BBQ competition today and will be checking out the various cookers being used. I’m leaning towards the Lang 60 and I’m hoping someone at the...

    Shirley Fab

I exchanged emails with Shirley Fabrication this week, and their backlog is now 31 months. They have great products, but unfortunately I can't wait that long.

    Lang 60 or 84???

Wow...waterluvr...sounds like you've been doing this for a long time...I'm just a backyard BBQ guy that cooks for his work buddies a couple times per year. As suggested by 73saint, I'm going to call Ben Lang this week, and hopefully pull the trigger on a new Lang smoker...

    Lang 60 or 84???

Having doors on both side would be a benefit as would the extra cooking space on the Lang 84 Deluxe. I also like the warmer box size that can accommodate full-size pans.

    Lang 60 or 84???

Do you guys have any experience with the optional fire box dampers – 1 that opens directly into the warmer box and 1 that shuts off the main cooking chamber? I understand that they turn the warmer box into a vertical smoker.

    Lang 60 or 84???

I’m new to the forum, and I need some advice. I have been using a 22” Weber Smoky Mountain Cooker for about 10 years with good results. But, there are times that I need a lot more cooking space. A Lang 48 Deluxe would handle most of my needs. However, 1-2 times per year I cook for 80 guys and...
