I can tell you that I cut two propane tanks to make mine. No problems. Research it on the internet and you should be fine. Some say two to three times of filling and draining with water. I did mine once. I'm also a certified fireman and after we cut it after the first fill with some...
Okay, last two pics for now.
A buddy of mine and me put it up top and tacked it in place last night and I got up and started welding. The firebox looks a bit burnt because we used it to keep warm last night while bbq'ing. It was still hot this morning and I had to clean it out.
Well...
Well here's an update. I took a break from welding today to post some things really quick. I'm at a point where my friend that welds well has to complete the last bead in an awkward (not sure if thats spelled right) position. It's almost ready to mount on the trailer. Heres some pictures...
This is where I got the plans for mine. It's coming along nicely. I have some pics to post in my thread but I don't have time tonight. Good plans and you can modify them as you go to suit your likings.
Sorry everyone, I haven't done any work on this thing. It's been a busy week and I have training all week. I've been learning (self teaching with some assistance from a good friend) to weld as I've never done it before. I forgot to post the pics of the burn barrel but will do so as soon as I...
I've read through most of the posts and then the sticky's, I just haven't been able to find my answer. On average, how long does it take to smoke these Fatties? I'm seriously considering putting my hand in this pot and trying them. Plus my partner and my sergeant are wanting to try them...
Well my dad used to smoke the turkey for Thanksgiving every year out camping. I decided last year that I'd buy the Wal-Mart smoker and give some things a try.
I did pulled pork with a Picnic ham from there and it was amazing. I've done some BBQ parties (one where we actually had about 40...
Sorry I had to break down and use photobucket. I've got all these pictures on my Kodak gallery and was working when I was uploading them but it wouldn't work once I finished. They should be there now.
Here's the doors open. I was doing some grinding on the cuts to clean them up.
That'd be me and I'm only filling half the tank at my feet. I go about 4 inches past the center beam.
Well there will be more to come later but today is a work day and I won't get back to work on it until Monday...
Got the doors mapped out and ready to cut.
Was getting little to nowhere with the grinder and have a great friend at an auto shop. Loaned me the torch and got the cutting done quickly. I know the grinder would have been cleaner cuts but this a lot faster.
Cut the hotbox door open after I got...
Now I know some people have expressed their concerns with a rear mounted fire box. The plans I got for my smoker came from online and I've decided that this setup will work best for the tanks I got.
I'm keeping a running tally for the amount that this build is gonna cost me in the end. I can...
