Smoker build Welder under $500??
Hey travisty, In general when buying a welder you want to get the biggest you can afford. Having the extra power can really come in handy in future projects. Building a UDS smoker can be done with just about any welder (flux-cored included) simply because there is not a whole lot of welding...- jmdribs

Got some work done today. No major cuts yet. but I took of all the excess metal off the tanks. I used the grinder to smooth out the welds that I cut. Plus I got to break a few welds with a sledge hammer which is always fun Here I cut off the leg of the of the firebox scrap tank. I didn't cut...- jmdribs

Thanks for the input. I plan on cutting the top of the doors first and welding on the top flat bar and hinges with tack welds. Then ill make the rest of the cuts and see how everything looks! Going to do some more work tonight so I'll update you all once I have some pictures.- jmdribs

Got an old smoker. First timer, how do I restore this thing?
Big thanks to everyone for the help. Currently smoking my first ever rack of ribs. On the way home from school I picked up two racks of ribs, two bags of lump coal and some hickory chips.
