    Thanks, I'm all about multi-function! I will try it and report back. Always enjoyed using Jeff's recipes for smoking turkey on my old New Braunsfels barrel smoker. Excited to try the offset.

    I bought a used OKJ smoker but have not had a chance to use it yet. I am wondering, what is the purpose of the horizontal plate on top of the fire box lid? Would this get hot enough while I am smoking to cook on (say simmer a side dish)?
