    Stainless smoker

Yes so far. The SS water and charcoal bowls clean up in a snap, it's solid and at its price point is surprisingly well made. Though at some point in the "chilly" :-) south Florida winters I may need to mod the dual vent system to a single. I don't think it will be a good choice for colder climes.

    Pickled Eggs

I read quite a bit on re-using brine, it seems to be a common practice. I'll reuse it only once though.

    Stainless smoker

Well, it's been a long time since I had a smoker like this, but my first few sessions reminded me that without a grate below the charcoal can get smothered by ash.

    Pickled Eggs

This thread had my mouth watering so we pickled a dozen last Sunday and I ordered a jar of McCormick pickling spices to play with and it came in today. The problem with it there were HUNDREDS of cloves in it and of all the things in the world I did not expect was a couple of hundred cloves... I...

    Stainless smoker

Crazzy you are correct, more steel means less resistance to rust. I received it this morning and the only parts that a magnet will stick to are the grills. This is made of marine quality stainless. Very happy with it AND it's made in the U.S.A!!! Way to go Meco corp!

    Mulberry as a smoke wood

Thanks all. It seems as if many use it without issues from the latex but I'll skin it before using it anyway.

Who cuts their own wood? How to organize?

I don't know how much wood you need to store but I made two wood cribs from PVC and they work fine.

    Stainless smoker

After a couple of years of rusting my last smoker went to the dump so I'm looking at the old style smokers (see pic) but this time in stainless steel to see how well it lasts under the covered eave and covered to protect it from the Florida weather outdoors. So, since I cannot store it indoors...

    Mulberry as a smoke wood

I have a mature mulberry tree (in addition to mango) and I've used the trimmings over the years in my fire pit but recently I had to trim it back radically due to a large broken branch. Initially I thought I'd easily have a free cord of firepit wood but I read that it's a very good wood for...

    Sea salt

ummm Isn't ALL salt mined from long gone dead seas? If white table salt does not have a specific method of removing any artifacts from "the sea" I would only imagine any benefit from a scare like this would come from Morton? I use it and while I have no allergies to seafood if I WERE allergic...

Which of these smokers to buy?

It leaked like a sieve the first time I used it and the charcoal wouldn't burn all the way not staying lit. Based on comments in here, I bought some "lava Lock" and secured it with food grade RTV and bought the coal pan with holes keeps the charcoal lit and hot. The door handle / lock now...
