    Spoolinaz: You are Exactly correct on the mixture. Where I went wrong is that  i have a regular 1/8 inch threaded pipe going directly into the end of the burner and propane fitting after that. I  think the pipe is going too far inside the tube and not getting any (not enough)  O2 with the gas...

    Spoolinaz: Ok so the adjustable regulator i ordered was not in stock. So canceled the order. Bought a hose and regulator at my local True Value. Was looking for a needle valve. No go. Bought a ball valve and some adapters to control the flame. Fired it up. Flame was totally orange. Backed off...

    Spoolinaz: Thanks for the compliment.  I will drill air holes in the pan. Waiting for an adjustable regulator from Amazon. I have not fired this up yet. If need be, how should i go about filling some of the holes in the burner? It is big at 50,000 BTU's.
