    Jeffs rub and Sauce

this question will probably raise a few eyebrows, asking it on this site, but i am going to ask it anyway. there are very conflicting reports available, as to how good this  is " one fits all rub and sauce " . At around $18,  when there are 100's of free recipes out there, it seems very over...

    UDS Burnout Question

try bending/rolling the mesh using a 5l paint tin or simlar, then something a bit smaler, as it will spring back. this will give it some curved strength and make it easier to fit.

ECB--good burn off, then first smoke disaster.

hi Wade the ash is my nightmare, after the disaster the other night. so i think the snake would give me peace of mind, and not vhoke the vents. thinking of 3 wide by 2 high, 1/2 way round, using the heat beads which arrived today. what chips do you use, they look a lot smaller than the ones...

ECB--good burn off, then first smoke disaster.

thanks Wade and Danny would i be correct in assuming that if i used the snake method, this would minimize the chance of choking the vents with ash in future. does this method supply enough heat for an ECB, as it must be at least twice the internal volume as the weber in dannys photo above...

ECB--good burn off, then first smoke disaster.

did a pre smoke burn off sunday night, and was very surprised by the results, using lidl briquettes. used 2/3rds weber chimney, and monitered temps for almost 5 hours, actually struggled to get the temp down to 225f, without killing all the draught. so monday night was to be the first smoke...

MY GOURMET ECB MODS -- STAGE 1

finally found the time to start the "pre use" mods on my new gourmet ecb. i have started at the bottom, so this post is about modding the base. none of the mods are my ideas, they are from different sites around the internet, but i have added my own tweaks to them. i have always thought that...

    Started modding my ecb..

another quick thought,;  if the exhaust is much bigger than the bottom air vent, then surely this will draw more air due to convection, ( heat rises etc ), and therefore give a higher reading in the smoker, than if the two vent settings matched.  So without an adjustable ex vent, then the very...

    Started modding my ecb..

THINKING LOGICALLY ABOUT THIS, and presuming there arent any leaks elswhere, then if the exhaust vent size is 1/2 the size of the intake vent, then 1/2 the smoke will have to find another way out, i.e. through the bottom, door, seal etc., or will become stale and create tar and other nasties. i...

    Started modding my ecb..

i bought 12mm gasket on ebay, but it was like elastic, so after i glued it on, it was only about 8mm, so it didnt seal properly. i then bought 18mm on amazon, thinking after streatching it, it would end up about 12mm. this one didnt strestch at all, obviously a much better quality, so thinking...
