100% hickory or 100% mesquite pellets online?

Thanks for the responses, I'll check out the options posted. For reference, I'm in Western NY (think Buffalo) so it sounds like 100% Mesquite may shipping-only for me.

100% hickory or 100% mesquite pellets online?

Unfortunately the local places nearby tend to overcharge even worse than the online options from what I've seen. Really wish I had a rural king or something like it nearby. I see lots of ppl talking about cheap lumberjack pellets always in stock.

100% hickory or 100% mesquite pellets online?

Has anyone done research to find the best (read cheapest) place to buy 100% hickory or 100% mesquite pellets online? Seems like I'm running across a lot if $50 to $70 price tags for 40 lb bags, which seems pretty high despite 100% flavor wood being more expensive than blends. I tend to believe...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

I want you to know that I really appreciate this response - thank you. And honestly, I do agree that cooking often becomes an artform. The way I produce art the best is playing around a bit and getting my hands dirty, but then starting to do deep dives that help me establish a fundamental...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

A disrespectful and dismissive comment was met with the same in return - hardly a shocking sight. Based on the way you've rushed to his defense it seems to you value respect, so I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from. And yes, I have noticed the wealth of knowledge here, in fact I...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps there are differences with how the Maillard reaction works at high vs low heat. Did a bit of googling and I'm still slogging through increasingly complex info about how the reaction works, however I also stumbled onto something I hadn't considered earlier...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

And now I regret your boosting your comment-count-sized ego by quoting you favorably, earlier. I'm surprised that you not only misinterpreted a comment by Jeremy, but got so bent out of shape by it that you felt the need to comment in and attempt to not only dismiss everything he says but also...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

I would disagree that a more scientific answer doesn't exist. Heck in this thread and someone already alluded to why condensed smoke is flawed and results in off flavors. Frankly, this is likely the biggest issue - the type of [smoke] particulates captured in liquid smoke through the process...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

I've made plenty that's good, so perhaps not as *obviously* as you seem to seem to *assume.* As mentioned in my other comment, I don't have a lot of experience with liquid smoke, but am familiar with how it's made (basically condensed smoke.) From what people are saying there's a dramatic...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

Ok, starting to feel a bit better - thank you noboundaries. I don't have much experience with liquid smoke, so if it's kinda crappy then that's a pretty good answer!

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

These answers aren't making me feel a lot better about this guys. Are you telling me that the only difference is I get the joy of the process? That simply cannot be all there is to it... Please tell me that's not all there is to it...

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, then toss in some liquid smoke?"

"Why not just use the oven or a crock pot, and then toss in some liquid smoke instead of messing around with a smoker?" This question is one that a friend asked me after hearing me talk about my experiences using my pellet smoker, and my sometimes-disappointing results (not enough smoke...

    Hungarian Hot Peppers in Oil

I know this thread is super old, but I was just looking for something like this. Do you toss any garlic into the mix? Any other seasonings? I feel like I've had this from friends before and they may have had a bit more going on in there, that's all. Edit: I did a little searching and found...

Heavy Duty Wire Racks (for chicken wings)?

Yep, will do. I'd guess that if the sandwich style ones will fit 4x into my grill, I'll probably end up keeping one of them and sending everything else back save for maybe a couple of the wire racks. I do expect to find material differences between each of these, and I say that because I've...

Heavy Duty Wire Racks (for chicken wings)?

Damn it... I just put in an order for 4 x 5 different varieties of this too. I'm going to have a LOT of Amazon returns lol.
