My Inkbird lasted a long time so I'm not disappointed with the use I got out of it. Thermoworks has a strong reputation with their Thermapen, but I wasn't sure about the other products and have seen similar negative reviews...
Unfortunately my 4-probe Inkbird thermometer base no longer charges up. It's lasted many years and has been great, but I was gifted a single Meater probe and that thing is amazing.... just painful for the wallet. Looking to hear what your personal experience has been with Inkbird Wireless...
Last night was my seasoning burn. It topped out at around 450 and I adjusted the intake so it hovered around 400 for a bit. Lowered it to around 1/4 intake and it stabilized at around 270. "too much charcoal" was exactly what I was thinking last night or possibly to use briquettes instead of...
I have it lit right now. Built in thermometer looks like it's about 50 degrees off. I playing around with the air intake and exhaust, but can't seem to get the temps down to 250. Guessing that i have air seeping in somewhere. Should have done this earlier with daylight.
that's awesome. I'm hoping for similar results. if it's off, I hope it's consistently off like my old electric smoker was. High reliability, poor accuracy I can deal with.
Wow, considering how much you had to study to become a cardiologist, I can't imagine how much information you've accumulated over 8 years studying bbq. 🤯
Good luck with your competition! I usually only feed family and close friends. Can't imagine putting my bbq experiments out for...
Were you only using the thermometer on the OKJ Bronco or an external thermometer for ambient temps? I've heard that thing, like many built in bbq thermometers, is very inaccurate.
I just got my bronco and hoping to fire it up this weekend. Hopefully I'll have as much success as you did.
Happy to hear it's fixed. I had the same issue. My issue turned out to be the wiring in the back like the picture of Zwiller's post. Wiring just burned up/melted and I had to fix that multiple times. Most recently replaced the heating element. An inexpensive repair.
Not surprising considering all the extra costs. CA has environmental requirements the rest of the country doesn't have. I blame both lawmakers and the people who keep voting for the same stuff.
RIP. Sad to see this. Bearcarver's Step by Step was basically my training wheels when I first got my MES40. It always felt like my personal gold mine of knowledge, but it sounds like many here were doing the same thing. 😅 Will always appreciate his influence and the many many compliments I've...
Just ordered this and now I'm looking for a cover. I'm hoping to find any generic large cover for the entire thing that can provide protection from some heat and humidity. Any suggestions?
First drum smoker so feel free to drop any additional accessory recommendations.
i had my MES and ran into issues over the years. Finally the heat element gave out and it turned out to be an easy fix like others mentioned. Here's the video I used.
on a separate note, I just ordered myself an Oklahoma Joe Bronco Drum smoker with 284 sq inch cooking surface that's on sale...
