I put the meat on according to the maverick since that is where the meatis. As far as testing it, I pulled it out the box and when it came on it matched the temps outside and went with it. Thanks for the fast response Davidhef88
I have myself a new dilemma, I'm trying my new maverick et732 for the first time today. My grate temp has reach my cooking temp but my thermometers on my doors aren't there yet. Should I go by the grate temps from the maverick or the door thermometers? According to the boiling water test they...
I think for the most part I am happy with it. If I had to do things different and the one thing that I am not happy with, needs BIGGER wheels. I was hoping that the 10" wheels and the 5" casters would be good enough but I am disappointed. On cement it does fine but can't get to far off in the...
usherk44 I sprayed the outside with wd40. I figured with that it wouldn't get sticky like cooking oil would do on the outside. I did like the way it brought a shine to the paint since it was such a flat black. The paint on the firebox held up pretty good so far. The paint was rated for 2000...
Well today is the day of the maiden voyage with the first fire in it to cure the metal. It took 55 minutes to get to 225. Within 20 extra minutes it climbed to 300. I have cut the open vents back and looking to keep the temps under control for a few hours to help in the curing process.
Well today I corrected the one or two things I didn't like and finished the pit up. I might later on think of somthing that I wish I would have done but to late now since the first coat of paint went on the pit and firebox section. I will build a coal basket for it as well but I can do that...
Today I spent the whole day working on the pit. I'm getting close but not there yet. Was hoping that I could have finished it today but as the day went on I knew it would not happen. Not really happy with somethings done today because I know I was rushing it and not doing the job that I'm...
Not much more to show. I did strap the two doors and have a decent seal. In one or two spots there is a lil gap. Not sure if the strap pulled when it was welded or what, thinking about heating the area up and hitting it with a mallet to take the form of th pipe in those areas. Trying to decided...
Well each day I get a lil bit closer but there is only so much I can do during my lunch break and my other 2 breaks during the day. Today I was able to finish cutting the doors out and I didn't see anything spring on me. I cut out the opening from the firebox to the cooking chamber. I was able...
