    Lang Seasoning

Get some pork skin or trimming from the market. Get a lot of it, and smoke it for many hours, all that fat rendered and sizzled on the reverse flow plate will stick to the full interior of the chamber eventually, you will even notice the grease drip from the top of the rain cap of the exhaust...

    Lang 36 poor quality welding?

Post some pictures for us when you get it, I would like to see a moded lang from factory. What exactly did you request from them to do on firebox? I am thinking of asking them on my future lang for an insulated firebox if possible or 1/2 inch steel instead. Did you get the idea of the stretch...

    Lang 36 poor quality welding?

Like2que, I am sure you will love the lang. And best is that you can actually be there to inspect your smoker before handing out your final payment. I am planning an RV trip with the family from Southern California to NY by taking the bbq trail from austin all along the south to Georgia and up...

    Welding on a Lang 48

Indeed an opening in the bottom of the drain pipe where it meets the outer belly of the smoker IS intentional. The purpose is to have excess water from a steam clean process to be able to drain out the chamber instead of setting in and rusting. If you do steam clean often, you will notice the...

    Lang Owners

Bang two splits against each other, you should hear some sort of tone if your splits are well seasoned. If the moisture content is high, the sound is more flat.

    Just got my Lang

Greetings Don All lang smokers leak from the door flanges since they are stitched welded and have an open gap of about less than 1/8'' inch all around the cover door. To seal it, I have read that people use high temp silicone, the kind you can get form an auto parts store. People just seal the...

    Just got my Lang

I had same experience as wood river bbq. The company that lang used was one in florida, they took one 10 days to pick up the smoker once it was ready, another 7 days to arrive in California where it sat in a loading dock for another week before someone asked and realized the smoker was supposed...

WSM 14.5 for direct traditional grilling?

ok good to know I can work out the 18.5 wsm. Just the size, I will give a shot this weekend for our sunday family fitness day. This is my hauler I plan to load with two children, my road bike, my sons gt trainer bike, a yeti road cooler, and a smoker. The wifes bike would haul the rest, camping...

WSM 14.5 for direct traditional grilling?

Anyone using a jumbo joe for smoking with coals to one side? Would it be a set and forget type of deal as with a standard 22.5 kettle I could get 3 hours of set and forget pretty much while holding a 250F +/-15F??

WSM 14.5 for direct traditional grilling?

for a 5 hour max cook out at the park i would feel better hauling less charcoal for a smaller cooker vs the 18.5. I have never smoked on my wsm 18.5 with minimun charcoal, I always load it to get 8+. I wonder if the chamber would heat just as much using less charcoal. I am also looking for...

    Hasty Bake Ranger???

Does anyone have one that can tell me if this unit is good for short smoking cooks? I am looking for something ultra portable I could use at the park for smoking 4-5 hours ribs, tri tip and grilling chicken/steak.

WSM 14.5 for direct traditional grilling?

I am still very undecided on what type of smoker I could get for my needs. I could really haul my 18.5wsm on that cargo bike, but it might be overkill for just four people. I usually feed 10-15 out of that 18.5. My other options is also a hasty bake ranger, but the 599 price tag on that grill...
