That's insane! I have not logged on in awhile and then I see this. First class and well done. I am going to try it with the leftovers from this superbowl brisket that I am cooking today.
There are 3 different racks so you will see different temps on lower versus middle/upper. I recommend using a separate probe next to your cook so you can monitor the real temps but with that, adjust the controller on the grill and it will stay steady. Very effective with temps
Agree that most are happy and the picture shown includes a mod that per MasterBuilt is not supported for those reasons.
Machine smokes great to answer some other people's questions. No off smell and it is important to burn off the oil when prepping and seasoning for the first time.
Have you looked at the Masterbuilt gravity series. It is a smoker that uses charcoal and includes a controller. It is not a top end choice but either are the MES'. It depends on how much you want fire vs. electric but it is close in terms of being automatic/controlled
Saw a post on a forum about smoking pretzel rolls on a MasterBuilt 560 so I gave it a try yesterday. Came out great and I used the roll to make a brisket sandwich with pickled red onions. The slice/cross on top was a little large but it was a first time trying this. I used Hickory as the...
I think the 560 replaces any smoker/charcoal combo. I would not compare it with the ease of gas so I keep our Weber Gas in the rotation, especially for my college kids that don't have time for the 560 or the Weber Kettle. They appreciate both and let me operate those
The 560 is legitimate and can easily cook 12 burgers with the 3 racks but I wouldn't say this grill/smoker's the #1 choice for hamburgers. I wouldn't want the fat on the heat manifold and additional cleaning so I would personally pull out the Weber Kettle for those cooks.
The 2 top racks on...
That looks great but you might want to double check that you are cutting across the grain. From the pics, it looks with the grain. I'm sure I am wrong but wanted to mention it just in case it helps out
560 is still doing well and I have a brisket in the cooler now that will be ready for dinner!
- I don't have any problem with the top hopper lid and gasket. I just keep the area free of charcoal bits which can happen when you pour in the coal/lump
- The charcoal does fall through the grate...
I think it is a mixed bag but new comers definitely see this 560 as an easy entry point and they seem to be grabbing them up. I also read posts from many other experienced cooks/smokers and there are many that move from the pellet over to this 560. I don't think you will have a ton of diehard...
They probably would have sent you a new temp controller for the 560. I use an iPhone and outside of user "process" initially, this thing works excellent and is part of the benefits of this grill. I am sure Fireboard is an alternate option but I would throw out this grill if the main controller...
