Who all finishes pork butt in the oven?

So this may be sacrilegious but who all finishes pork butts in the oven?
I've got my very first one on the smoker now. I figure to go with 4 hours in the smoke and then wrapped with no smoke until it reaches the desired temp of between 195 and 200.

Is it cheating putting it in the oven to finish?

When I was working, I did it quite a bit. Crank the heat up in the oven to 325F. The butt won't mind and it finishes faster.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. I just prefer being outdoors around the smoker

I,ve finished them in the oven, sometimes as mentioned it's just easier for any number of reasons.

I finish mine in my smoker. In the summer my smoker is my oven.

Have done it a number of times ... more often than not I didn’t get it started early enough and ran out of light or time. Already get plenty of smoke the first few hours, and butts can take the higher heat well.
Only downside is it does soften the bark.

Lots of times. Especially if the weather is bad. Taste and looks just the same as if you leave wrapped on the smoker.

It turned out really good.
Went on the smoke for 4 hours, and then in the oven at 325. Not sure how long it was in the oven. Pulled it out when it got to temp. Was probably another 3.5 to 4 hours. Mixed some of the juice back in. Very tasty.

True! But your WOMAN might have something to say about it!!!

As a younger man, a cool night and a case of Yuengling Lager...I had no issue feeding the fire as long as it took. Now, I use a MES, and even with that set and forget smoker, I have finished in a 325 Oven to get the meat done fast. I take it a step further...This past winter with 18"s on the deck. The kids had a taste for Pulled Pork. I roasted it start to finish in the oven...AND...Used Liquid Smoke in the Finishing Sauce! It made for some pretty good Pulled Pork...JJ
