I smoked some chicken quarters last night for the whole purpose of leftovers for the week. First task at hand... first time tamales! I researched a bunch of different recipes online and decided I would do half chili Verde. . And half red chili sauce. I didnt really use exact amounts for either sauce. And the Masa I just followed the directions from package.
6 cups masa
5 cups broth or water
Salt
Cumin
Onion/garlic powder
Marinaded some of the pulled chicken for a few hours half with red..half with green sauce..enjoy the pics..
chicken last night
some of it pulled
tomatillos, onion, garlic, and lime all smoked for 2 hours on UDS
cali dried red chili pods and onion garlic getting rehydrated...
red chili sauce marinade for chicken and some reserve for serving...
smoked salsa verde marinaded chicken with the chili verde for serving..
I have no dough making utensils. . Think I have more masa on the cieling and walls but was fun to make. .
staging area. I needed a few more people to help the making of the tamales... but overall it was fun and therapeutic this morn'n
Overall.. so far the process was fun... I plan on steaming them in the morning.. hopefully they turn out good.. cause tamales are some work... for this first timer ;) thanks for looking..
