Hello all,

My name is Devin and I live in NC. I am a paramedic for a local county and a lover of fine Q!

Let me start by first saying how long I have read these posts and dreamt of being capable of smoking my own delicacies at home but never had the means! Then my wife bought me a starter smoker in the Brinkmann gourmet smoker! After a lot of research and studying through these forums and various other Internet outlets, my brother and law and I decided to go big or go home for our first time out and smoke two 10 lb butts for the whole family! Thanks to all of you wonderful folks I was prepared for anything and after nearly 12 hours, 6 charcoal changes, and 3 water additions, this was the outcome!

Looking forward to many more meaty adventures!

This was at the first temp check a little over 6 hours in! The reading was 165 degrees!

Had trouble embedding the rest of the images so hopefully will get to share a more detailed account of our first smoking experience later. Needless to say with all of your hints, tips, and tricks, the Q was a success! Great bark, beautiful smoke ring, and 5 satisfied customers!
