That's very true, it's kinda sad that I have to demote her to sidekick status though. Oh well She'll get over it.

No worries, I don't blame you so keep asking. Nothing is irreversable.
About the hose clamp, would the ones that normally come with the dryer vent (if you buy the set these come with it) work? or would I need something else? Is the clamp temporaty until the cement sets or am I going to want something permanent?
Tha clamp should be permanent. The purpose of the cement is sealing against heat/smoke loss and to make it more secure. At Lowes you can purchase the vent tubing in a small 8' section for about $5.99, the hose clamp will be sold seperatly. Get a wide one if you can, put it on and leave it.
Is there a way to secure the lower end of the chimney extension using the cement? or will the cement not adhere to the vent very well?
No, the cement will not work on the lower end. You will need some kind of bracket, I used a large paper clamp, the clam type, therefore my bottom section is not permanent and I can move the vent tube if I want to, but I normally keep it in the center.
When you put the SFB on use alot of the cement.
When all the cement is set-up and dry it will be very secure.
