Newbie From NC

Thread Starter
Hello everyone. My name is Brent and I happened across the site today while googling reviews for the Chargriller Duo 50/50. I am in need of a new grill and I like being able to use gas or charcoal. I'd also like to get into smoking as I love a good brisket. After looking around the site (I have a ton of reading to do, so much great info on here) it looks like most people have modded their CG Duos. I hope to go pick mine up tonight at Lowes, and my question is if there are any "essential" mods that I should do? I probably won't be smoking a ton at this point, 2 little ones running around kinda limits my time but I'd like to be able to do a butt or a brisket from time to time. Looking forward to meeting everyone and maybe contributing a recipe or two.

Welcome to smf, and like you I like to use both gas and charcoal, and I just bought a new Kenmore grill from Sears, one side is a 3 burner gas, and the other is a charcoal grill, that you can raise and lower the charcoal to help control heat, it was $300, and I love it, my smoker is a gosm, that I bought at BassPro, its propane, and works great, you don't have to monitor the gas or electric smokers as much as wood/charcoal but with kids around it helps.
