Thought I would drop in and say hi to all the folks here. I just got my first smoker, a Brinkman Gourmet charcoal, for Christmas and have absolutely no idea what to do with it. I was just cruising the web and stumbled on this forum. I havent spent much time looking around, but it seems to be full of great info. Looks like the first thing I need to do is make a couple simple mods to it.

A little about me, my name is Todd and I am from Bardstown, KY. I just recently became a new father, 6 month old little boy who is absolutely wonderful. I work at two different hospitals as an x-ray tech and in the Air National Guard, so that don't leave much time for anything else. But in my free time I do a little sandcarving/sandblasting on mirrors, glass and wine bottles. With a little luck I will pick up enough here to add smoking to the hobby list. well, time to hit the boards and start reading up.

Todd

First off welcome Todd to SMF. I also used to sandblast on glass years ago and it was really fun to. I really enjoyed the carving in glass and wood to but I haven't done that in years. But now I'm into smoking meat and it really fullfilling with the food and feeding people. But you will learn to like this place to because there are alot of good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. If you are really new you might want to get signed up for the E-course it's free and very informative too.

How to post Qview to Forum:

Everyone here enjoys seeing the Qview so be sure to post plenty of pics...

Large ones that us old people with bad eyes can see.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I already have the 5 day ecourse and looked over it, lots of great info in it. I am way too impatient to wait the full 5 days for it, so i just bought the download one. I went in search of some of the items to start mods, but couldnt find a grate for the coals. Lowes has chimneys on sale for 4 bucks so i picked up a couple of them. Now i just gotta read up a little more and figure out how to get started.

Thanks
Todd
