I got the 1 1/2HP unit about 2 to 3 weeks ago and finally got the opportunity to try it out this morning. Meijers has chuck roast on sale so I proceeded to purchase about 25# and ground them for burgers. This machine walked through those chuckies like they were butter. Really pleased with the performance of this unit.

I have the same unit that you have the 1 1/2 Hp and i am very happy with it they are great machines i use mine at least once a week

I have the one HP and it is absolutely the best grinder I have ever used second only to an old hobart I had the oppritunity to use several years ago. Only reason it was better was the ability to feed it faster. I can't feed mine as fast as it will grind!!

I am thinking about removing the guard above the feeder tube to make it easier to feed.

Glad it works good for you. Thanks for the review.

Careful with that. As I tell my Kids, Safety first. I just shove it from the sides slowly and it falls down the throat. Almost never have to use the plastic stuffer!

I got the 3/4 horse one this year and it is great. I can't imagine how much the bigger ones would go through!

PLEASE leave the guard in place! It's there for a reason - I've seen more than one cutter come out of the grinding cooler in 30 years with a stump for a hand, all the fingers gone in less than 2 seconds - get two steps outside the cooler door and pass out and then fracture their skull too. Sure, "you know better.." - they did too. Ya can't glue 'em back on once they're gone - I've cut off two in the band saw myself.

Plus you almost have to throw out that batch of sausage. It would be hard to get my kids to eat sausage that my fingers were ground up in.
