whats the best one for a new guy

i was just wonder what would be the best smoker for a new guy to start with. the one i look at that home depot had look kinda cheap but the one at bass pro was nice but costly.

what do you guys thin start out cheap and work my way up and just spend the cash and get anice one to start with

I love my MES, it is easy and works great and will last a long time and give you good results. Research things. If you want easy, this is it.

i bought a charcoal ecb from walmart for 28 bucks... so far, it's been big enough. plus, producing top notch que from such a piece of crap makes it more exciting!

Ive never used an "easy" smoker, well the electric trailer rig at the q joint i worked in was easy, but all i did with that was prep the q and throw it on the rotisserie and forget it. I started with a charcoal burner, a Char-Griller smokin pro, about a year ago, and loved it from day 1. I dont mind messing with it to keep proper temps, adding charcoal, cleaning out the ash pan every once and a while on long smokes and a slew of other fun activities that go along with owning a charcoal burner or a stick burner. I'm not trying to turn you away from one though, you may love it. On the other hand, i understand that a gasser, like a GOSM, is a fairly easy to operate unit and alot of ppl have/swear by them. An electric unit would probly be about the best if you want easy as pie Q. Whatever your choice is, there are tons of ppl on here willing to help you out as you progress from noob to pitmaster. Hay lets not forget the UDS if your a Do-It-Yourself guy, easy to build and they turn out Great eats and lots of members have one. Also theres nothing wrong with starting out with something not very expencive and you can always up-grade later.

I started with an ecb ,8yrs ago and learnt alot from it.would not part with the 2 I have,having said that the Chargriller snp is so much easier and a far superior smoker

I like my MES. Don't have time usually to mes with fire, although I would love to. Works good and for clean up I just put things in the dishwasher.

I love to smoke meat but I still like to grill once in awhile, but the wife will only let me have one contraption at a time.

I bought this crazy bbq grillware from lowel's for about 100 bucks.

pretty stainless steel thing, but it is double walled and has cast iron ends so it holds a real constant temp.

I holds a fare amount for a party, but you can't cater a wedding with it.

I like the crank for raising and lowering the coal bed.

pro and cons like everything else, but works well, and has alot of uses.
