Any one else have trouble with the temp guage on there MES? Mine is constantly off 20-30 degrees. Have only used it twice but glad I had back up. Is it worth contacting Master built?

Taylor on the right is in the smoke hole. And the round guage from my barrel smoker is reading about 230. The cheapo Taylors seems to be good for the price.

Wow, I have the same smoker and same taylor thermos from target! There MES probe, if I remember correctly is mounted on the back wall upper left hand corner. I would try putting the taylor probe in the exact same location. I have actually never tested it's accuracy and now may try it...

Actually, I think there are two probes. One at the top left corner and then one further down on the lef side. Mine is dead on and regulates very well.

I have the same set up and went through the same question.

Here is what I finally found. This from a previous post.

Ok, Mystery solved.

The MES has at least one heat sensor that I found. It is mounted on the back wall on the left. It doesn't measure the air temp but the unit itself, makes sense to me. I did another test tonight and made sure the probe was stcking out of the potato at least 1/2 inch. Everything checked out within a few degrees after reaching temps. The Taylor did spike when the heat was on, Now I can understand why. I know the food is always great, according to the charts, ETC.

Does that make sense?

I hope this solves your problem. I notice in your pic that the MES was in heat mode, light was on. Bring it up to temp and let it sit a bit, then turn on your Taylors with the heater off.

Let me know if this solves your dilema.

Good luck!
