I Just joined the Smokers Meat Forum. I would appreciate any information on how to start a good hot fire in my Smoker. I have to reload charcoals about a half hour after I start the fire in the firebox. It takes me more than an hour to get a good and hot fire going to get the temp up to at least 200 degrees. Why is it so hard for me to get my smoker up to cooking Temp? Can Anyone give any tips on this.

I'm cooking on a Char-Griller Smoker that has the firebox attached on the side.

Howdy V and welcome. Probably has a lot to do with the type of charcoal your using and your fire box set up but you do need to provide some detailed info to get some help.

Welcome to the smf viperlo, you are in the right place .... as gridiron said, it would help to know what kind of smoker you are using, any mods you've done, what kind of charcoal, how much you add, how you light it.

If you haven't already do sign up for Jeffs free 5 day course .Lots of good info in there.

Don't worry we'll get you rolling soon enough.

Edit - so now we know what your smoker is ..... what's your charcoal, how much at a time and how are you lighting it?

Welcome to the forum. I suggest that you browse theough the forum and pay special attention to mods for the CharGriller. In particular, the charcoal basket mods.

Welcome to the forum viperlo! Take a look to the left, ya got a big stack links in red letters. 6 from the bottom is a good fire building link. I don't have your smoker, but definitely check out the mods that folks in here have shared.
