Hi guys

Just found this site and thought I would join to learn a bit more about using the smoking part of my Brinkman Smoke n Pit. Up until now really only used it for barbeque when the weather here in Scotland has been dry enough. At least it keeps the midges away!

Looking forwards to learning.

New to the smoking game

I have signed up for the course, so I am sure all will be revealed over the next few days. I didn't know that there was a difference between grilling (which I believe is called broiling in the USA) and barbequeing, so even though I still don't know the difference at least I now know there is one

Nice to have you on board. You will enjoy yourself, that's for sure.

In addition to the eCourse, check out some of the articles on the left side margin. If you have specific questions, just ask them in the appropriate threads and someone will be along to help with answers.

Nope- broiling to us is done in an oven, with the food UNDER a high heat source.

Grilling is cooking with gas, charcoal or wood and the subject of the BTU's DIRECTLY over the heat source

BBQ <in the smoking vein> is done with INDIRECT heat, and with wood smoke in the heat mix. It's a "low and slow" cook, if you will.
