I was expecting a quiet day my boy was going to his in-laws? and I was gonna make more smoked turkey lunchmeat today and grind some pork butt for sausage.

I got my last turkey out of the brine to debone. I split the skin up the breast to start cutting down the bone and got a call his girlfriend and mother-in-law both took two extra shifts at work (triple time pay yikes) so their Thanksgiving got canceled! It's already almost down the middle and I guess I'm making a turkey to bring up to my boy.

I wonder if I can sew the two pieces back together?

Oh well it won't be pretty but at least I'll see my boy for Thankgiving.

Good thing I was already planning something with turkey their not a last minute thing!

Quarter the thing, and smoke it! Ya dont have to have a whole, pieced together field bird to smoke it or make it tasty!

Tell him you're studying to become a 'Forensic Pathologist', or 'County Coroner', or sumpthin' like that...then the 'stitching' won't matter!...

Until later...

Thank guys but this is my baby boy (he's 30) and he needs a real turkey for thankgiving!

Mama to the rescue!

Meowy - I do most of my birds that way I'm always worried about those little rib bones and such but it's Thankgiving and I have to make it look like a whole bird or my boy will be disappointed. Mommy magic ya know!

Tim - I can never remember that darn word I don't know why. My boy always just said I butched the chickens and turkeys so he wouldn't get to use a knife till he was 50! (It's not true he was only 18 when I let him cut his own meat! Piggie don't go there!

)

Crew - funny thing is he likes smoked legs best but now that he's a grown man he gets to slice the turkey and it makes him feel good. You guys know how that works right? The Dad slices the turkey thing ... he's not a Dad but he was so proud when I handed him the carving knife - a right of passage thing I guess. Old fashioned I know but I love Norman Rockwell what can I say!

Coley - I love the 'Forensic Pathologist', or 'County Coroner' thing. He'll crack up at that.

Any who it's not pretty but I think it'll be whole. I think I'll call him FrakenTurk!

You do have a way of sticking my foot in my mouth!

I am kind of an overly protective Mom, but I get it honest! I think the first time I used a knife to cut my own meat I was in bootcamp!

Here the 120 degree birds - using my Mareric remote today for the first time so I can watch the Packers game.

Whoa, Debi!!...The stitching's too NEAT!...
PDT_Armataz_01_23.gif

To look like a 'Forensic Pathologist', or a 'County Coroner' did it, you've gotta use the 'Baseball' stitch!!...

Then it'll be a REAL 'FrankenTurk'!!...

Not to worry, Dude!

srmonty is my screen name in a lot of places. It spawned the "Sir Monty" that Dutch hung on me and so lead to the "Knighthood" of the SMF!

I prefer to be addressed as either Steve or Monty. So, for my own unique purposes I asked Jeff to change my screen name to Monty to make it a bit more personal and inline with my own stupid ego.

Thank you for noticing, Dude!

Cheers!

i noticed i think even yesterday, in active threads, a monty........didn't even get it a thought.......till today, when i was READING a thread you responded too......i told my self......"SELF".......summin diffint.....

monty it is.........

D88de -

Monty doesn't need SR before his name to let you know he's a true gentleman all you need to do is read a few posts.

Well dinner was great! Only for two but I decided I didn't need my boy to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast and both Jessie and myself deseved it anyway. Funny I didn't think of that before - anyways here it is, Turkey, cranberry dressing, mushroom gravy, taters, corn with diced peppers, Dacdots Acorn squash (thanks hon!), cranberry sauce and rolls:

The toopicks held and the bird didn't really look to weird considering the surgury. Guess I'll freeze him to later!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!
