Hey, Im a new member writing from Northern Mexico, where we eat a lot of GOAT! I am building a custom smoker and will try this local favorite and let everyone know how it turns out. Typically goat is a very tough meat, as you can imagine, and I believe smoking it is the ideal way to cook it, although it will require lots of mops to keep it from drying out.

I should have the first test results within days of having my 6'x6'x2' stainless smoker completed. As you can guess, this will be for restaurant use.

Take care, and happy smoking,

If anyone is interested in recipes from Mexico, even non-smoker related, drop me a line, I will be happy to share.

Justin

I went to Monterrey last year and ate some tacos from a vendor on the street corner at 3am. Those were the best darn tacos I have ever tasted.
They were really small, but veeeeery tasty. I ate 5 or 6 of them.
Was that goat meat I wonder?

Hello Justin and welcome to the SMF.if you have any question they will get answered here. And I for one like goat. It's a little stringy and tough, but like you said.smoking it will tendor it up a lot. What part of Mexico are you in?

Glad to see that we have a poster from somewhere south of the boarder besides Australia!!

Justin Case,

I've been talking with my friend for several months now about smoking goat. We're in california, so there's only a handful of places we know we can get it.

Are you doing whole goat or goat pieces? I'd love to find out how you did it and how it came it. Look forward to your posts!

Thanks,

eeneb the great

Buen Gusto Justin, and welcome to the SMF. Sounds like you have some background working with metal, or you know a pro. Looking forward to Q Views of Cabrito, Barbacoa, Huachinango!

Welcome! Not many goat smokers here, but we are pretty much open to anything. (Well, maybe not armadillo)
