I do the same thing, focus on local foods. I had great Q around the South, all kinds of foods in Wisconsin, excellent local seafood along the coasts, etc. Miami is a fantastic town for grocery shopping.because of all the ethnic influences. Then, there are small craft breweries popping up all over the country.

A lot of people travel and strictly stay with the big national restaurant chains. I think they're missing a lot of local flavor, literally.

When i travel , besides the regular lunches and dinners at eateries i like tasting local cured meats and cheeses puechased from specialized shops.

Not a fancy setup eating on the hotel room table but the flavours and a good liquid company makes up for the basic service.

This time jamon iberico de bellota (pata negra pig acorn fed), cured sausage from the same kind of pig and another tasty dry cured sausage.

Good stuff ! I wish you hadn't made my mouth water. [emoji]129299[/emoji]. I'm hungry now..

You need some cheese too.
:points1:

I miss being in Germany.
Good sausages there. Cured meats.

There was cheese too...cabra ....and cava...

I love all cured meats...but iberico de bellota is in a league of its own. At room temp is dripping (good) fat. The hams hang in the shop....they probably mop a few times a day.
When the person behind the counter was slicing my bellota my wife commented "he gives you the fatty part". I said "yep, that's the one i want".
