Hello everyone, my name is Adam and I am from Central Illinois. I am just a hair shy of 30 and have been seriously smoking meats for about four years now. I currently am smoking on a Wally World purchased barrel grill with side smoker box, with good success so far. However I have been looking at an Oklahoma Joe for a while, for when my cheap-o eventually bites the dust. I eventually would like to invest in a nice Yoder.

To date, I have been very successful in smoking ribs, wings, and butts. A lot thanks, in no small part, to tips and guides I found on this very site. I eventually will try to re-find the threads that I found some time ago to thank the authors directly for sharing their wisdom, but until then I wish to thank everyone here for all the useful information your have shared! Thank you!

I hope I can further develop my techniqes and gain some of my own experience to be able to give back to everyone that has (and will) helped me. I also hope to be able to impart some of my own experinces to anyone just starting out.

I'm pretty open and eager to discuss and share, so feel free to PM me with anything. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!!

Adam, welcome to SMF!  Glad you are here and finding the information and friendliness so helpful.  Sounds like you're a well on your way to pit master perfection.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum!

Oh I agree. I just find they don't last very long. I keep it scooped out and clean it regularly (some grill cleaner, a light scrubbing with a nylon brush, rinse with garden hose, re-season) but it seems I only get about 2-3 years out of them, max. I figure if I can spend 100-200 more on an Oklahoma Joe and at least double the longevity, it'd be worth it.

Edit: Thank you for the warm welcome!!
