Hi all, I'm in the process of building a Slow 'n' Sear for my Weber grill. I wanted to paint it or coat it somehow. What recommendations do any of you have for paint so that when the coals are burning, the paint won't release any odors or smoke onto the meat? Would powder coating be okay? Is there a way to coat with some kind of enamel to match the Weber grill?

In my opinion it would be best left uncoated, waste of time and money.
Any coatings except for some high heat powder coating and/or ceramics will not last very long, and even the powder/ceramic will break down over time with the extreme temps and handling.

Hey all, sorry haven't checked my posts in a while, have been pretty busy. I actually just got back to building the slow'n'sear just a week ago. The way I ended up doing it is I bought another Weber grill off of Craigslist for cheap and just cut out a section of it to match the roundness of my grill. Then I found some scrap stainless steel around my dad's shop and welded the back onto the round part. It worked out pretty well but the channel leaks when I pour water in it. I'm not a welder at all so I know it doesn't look great, but my brother welds a bit and hellh see if he can fix it for me. Hoping it works out! Can't wait to smoke some briskets this summer!
