Hey smoking people. I have a lot of cooking experience and a fair amount of expertise in several cuisines. I've been smoking in various devices for years but I need advice on equipment. I recently brought old cabinet smoker to my summer house in Vermont. Now my place in New York is in dire need of a new, bigger smoking device and I figured I'd sign up here and ask for opinions.

I cook for groups regularly and would very much like to be able to smoke 10+ racks of St. Louis ribs at once. However, I need to be able to hang sausages too. Have looked at a number of devices, gas and electric, but I keep talking myself out of them based on comments here. It's not practical for me, I think, do do a charcoal or wood fired device.

Would like to keep things under $1000 +/- but mostly I don't want to buy another one in 2 years.

Look forward to getting opinions from everyone who has one.

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a beautiful partly sunny day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.

Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.

Thanks, Gary. I'm driving myself nuts talking myself into then out of various smokers. Currently thinking about the Smokintex 1460 or the 1500. If I knew how many racks of ribs each can handle it would be easier. Maybe I'll write them and ask.
