Been wanting to build on of these for a couple of years now, so today was the day I got started.

Collected my drum from a local supplier who advertised on a well know Auction Site. Cost £11.00 ($14.00)

Marked barrel out for two grill racks and a heat deflector plate above the Charcoal Pan.

Measurements as follows.

Drum circumference was 6ft, so from the seem measured 2ft in both direction. Used a spirit level and marked drum from top to bottom.

All measurements are from the bottoms of the drum, measured 13 inch up for the heat deflector position, 18 inch up for first rack, 24 inch up for second rack.

Used tape to make it visible for the photos.

Drilled holes with a 6mm drill (1/4 inch)

Drilled the lid to take exhaust.

Was able to get hold of a Stainless Steel exhaust, free from a friend. Drilled it and fitted a butterfly valve to it.

I had some folding shelves from my Pit Boss Kamado, that I never used as it is set into a table, so I thought why not use them on this build.

20mm (.78 inch) to take air inlet that houses fan for PID Controller.

Got hold of this Utensils rack, but it was straight, drilled hole to take one end, bolted it to the drum the formed it around the drum, then drilled second hole and bolted to pull it to the drum.

Got the drum sand blasted.

Painted UDS with heat proof paint and added the Smokin Monkey Logo.

Building the UDS up.

Old beer keg cut down to make fire pit.

Stainless Steel heat deflection plate.

Two levels of grill racks.

Finished UDS in "The Dog House"

Very nice build!

It looks like a lot of thought went into the design, with the shelves & tool holder!

I love the bottle opener on the side!!

Point!
