Planning on getting out this weekend to start the purging and cleaning. I think I am going to cut this down in half and make two smokers. (my dad doesn't know, but he is going to get  anew one)

Here are the calculations I was playing with. What do  the seasoned vets think? I want the firebox to be able to run actual small splits. But it shows 200% of recommended size. Is that a problem?

So not much to speak of, got the tank purged, then a three month trip for work put everything on hold. Hoping to be home in a few weeks to start some downtime cooker building before football starts up in full swing. Questions though now that I've been thinking

1. This tank is 3/16 steel. I bought a sheet of 3/16 to make a firebox. I'm thinking of insulating it. Would 1/8 inch be good to skin it? I am going to be using a 115v welder. 3/16 is kinda max and no machine for 1/4.

2. Thinking of going Shirley Fab style and cutting a square box instead of traditional doors. Would it be worth it?

3. trailer. Build or buy?

Thanks. Now eat some Que
