I was trying to come up with something clever to say here, but alas, clever hasn't checked in this morning...

Anyway, I'm TheDeuceII, and I'm new-to-posting-but-been-trolling-this-site-for-some-time-now.  I decided to join after numerous times browsing here for information, gleaning what I needed, and leaving like a hit-and-run.

So, I'm really new to smoking: my wife and I purchased our first smoker based on recommendations from here, Reddit, Amazing Ribs, [the glowing write up by Henry Soo] Slap Yo Daddy BBQ Blog, and a friend who does BBQ competitions.  My first foray into smoking has already turned me into an addict, and I look for any reason to dink around with my smoker -- it's like a expensive  hobby, but cheap, and I get to eat good things.  At this point we've made the following on the smoker (in order since we bought it three weeks ago) -- pulled pork with homemade rub and BBQ sauce (6/5 stars, personal opinion), marinaded pork loin with smoked asparagus, and today I am smoking a beef brisket with smoked potatoes (yes, on a Monday...  I work from home, so fortunately my job affords me the luxury of being able to smoke on a Monday).  In the last few weeks I saw many of the shortcomings with the WSM, and have already done most of the "recommended" mods -- lid seal gasket -- wood stove woven-fiberglass seal, door gasket -- 1/2" x 3/16" graphite-impregnated woven fiberglass applied to door (in case I decide to get the CB Stainless door), and "better" coal grate -- 13-1/2" grate offset 90 degrees to keep coal ash at bay.

Overall, I am in love with grilling, smoking, cooking, and eating.  I think joining this forum was necessary in order to properly show gratitude for helpful posts, and provide the opportunity to better my skills with my newfound hobby.  I understand the concept of "Roll Call", however along with the "Welcome" from you, I must say thank you: both for having me, and providing the insight that I lacked over the last few weeks.

Thanks for reading, have a wonderful day!

-Josh
