Amazon had these on sale the other day for $9.99, so I thought why not.

Tested against my trusty Lavatool and they are within a tenth of each other in boiling water. Good enough for me. Reading times were the same.

The TP093 is a bit clunkier. You have to lock the probe in position, which also means you have to unlock it to fold it back in. Being used to the open swing operation of the Lavatool this could be an issue. I felt like it might break if you tried to fold it and forgot it was locked.

The TP03 probe and probe Tip is about twice the diameter of the Lavatool. Which when probing sausages would make a bigger hole than I'd like.

All in all for $10 it would make a great therm for someone who didn't want to spend $25 on the Lavatool or $90+ on Thermapen.

My goto instant read will still be the Lavatool. The Tp09 will be a good back up.
