Hi all! I'm new to the group and live in Birmingham, AL. I currently do everything on my '06 Weber Performer but am looking at WSM. Anyone have feelings one way or the other on 18.5 vs 22.5? Is the extra space on the 22.5 worth the extra fuel and $$$? Thanks!

Yes the extra space is well worth the extra $100.

The 22.5 will use a little more fuel, but not a lot.

I have owned all 3 sizes & the 22.5 is the most versatile.

The 18" will do most of what you are likely to want to do but there will be times when you wished that you had gone for the 22". Given the choice I would go for the 22" from the start. The difference in fuel for low temperature smoking is minimal when using the minion method and good quality briquettes.

Close the vents when you are done, the charcoal will die out.Use it the next time you cook no waist

Yes. I usually use the left over charcoal/briquettes in the chimney next time as the minion starter.
