Pre seasoning a new 2.5 gen 40" MES?

Is there a better way than what is mentioned in their instructions? When you get to the smoke part, what if you don't have wood chips? Can you use pellets, and if so, how much?
Does anyone coat the insides with any cooking oil(peanut?) and if so, at what stage of the process, or is this not necessary?
Finally, how do you know how much tension to put on the door lock mechanism?

The instructions are accurate. The unit is designed to smoke with Chips. If you have a Pellet Smoke Generator, you can use it, but adding pellets to the tray is not recommended as they can generate an explosive gas and cause the unit to belch flames.

The interior is stainless and not prone to rust so there is no need to Oil the interior like steel smokers that can rust.

Adjust the tension so just a gentle but firm push locks the latch. Similar to the effort used to latch a Tool Box...JJ
