$40 on Craigslist!

I bought this black one for $25 with the intent to use it for the uds build, but as I've said in another thread, I was foolish enough to actually cook on it because we had to wait for the weather to change for the burnout to build the uds. So now I've become like so many others, emotionally held hostage by this glorious contraption! There's no way I can go back to gas griiling, and I've become just a little bit of a Weber snob ("well, I guess it's technically a kettle grill, but it's no Weber.....", those words actually came out of my mouth at Walmart yesterday!). So this black one will go on the uds and this pretty copper one will come home with me this afternoon, I think I shall name her Penny......

Well, she's home and boy does miss penny need a bath! I wish with all of my heart that someone would do a PSA about how leaving your kettle out in the rain with ash in it is kettle abuse. Don't people know- ASH +WATER= LYE! You know, one of the most corrosive chemicals a person could ever hope to find. This kettle has been rode hard and put back wet, but I think I can help her to live out the rest of her days in relative comfort and peace. Definitely needs some attention but we can handle it.

I feel in love with Penny at first sight..!!

My local liquor store has a draw for a "Penny" so the entries are in and the fingers crossed..

Awwww thanks, I love the copper color a lot more than I thought I would. I cooked on it for the first time tonight. I love the ash sweeper on the bottom! Anyways, best of luck to you, hope your Penny comes home soon!
